Christmas Parades Set for Saturday in Wetzel County

Short Line’s annual Christmas parade is set for 1 p.m. Saturday. Walking units and parade marshals are to line up at the Church of Christ. Motorized units will line-up along the road on Alley Addition, and in the camping area, if needed.

The rest of the Saturday Short Line events are as follows: 9 a.m., vendor set-up; 10 a.m., National Anthem and Flag Raising at the middle of town; 10 a.m., Vendor booths open; 12:30 p.m., parade line-up; 1 p.m., parade, featuring Grand Marshal Leslie Lively and his Engineer Energy kids; 2 p.m., tree lighting with caroling by Pine Grove Baptist Church choir.

Short Line Christmas weekend events conclude on Sunday. At noon, there will be the opportunity for the wee tikes to have their photos taken with Santa Claus. Santa will have special gifts for each child, infant to 10 years old.

In Hundred, the Old Fashioned Christmas is set for Saturday. The parade is set for 5:30 p.m., with the line-up scheduled for 5 p.m. at Hundred High School. The town’s tree lighting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m., between Alpine Theater and Hornet’s Nest.

The event features live music, Santa Claus at the fire hall, a live nativity scene, ugly sweater contest, carriage rides, and plenty of tasty treats — pie and baked goods, chili and soups, burritoes and hoagies, chicken and dumplings, and s’mores. There will also be crafts, games, pole decoration contest, Pampered Chef, culinary arts, and raffles.
