Historic tax credit training session set

WHEELING — The West Virginia State Historic Preservation Office will present a training session on the Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit program in council chambers at the City-County Building, 1500 Chapline St., Wheeling, at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 4.

The program is being hosted by the Wheeling Historic Landmark Commission. The session is free and open to the public. Participants at the training session will learn about changes made to the tax credit program, new requirements for the program and an explanation of the program’s financial incentives.

The Trio to play at Indian Club

TILTONSVILLE — The Trio is set to appear at the Indian Club, 513 Hodgens Ave., Tiltonsville, at 9:30 p.m. Dec. 31. The band plays music from the 1950s through the 1970s.

Organizational meeting set

MARTINS FERRY — The Martins Ferry City School District Board of Education will hold its annual organizational meeting at 5:30 p.m Jan. 8 in the board office prior to the scheduled monthly meeting.

Trustees to hold special meeting

BETHESDA — The Goshen Township Trustees will hold a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the township hall on North Main Street in Bethesda. Due to the New Year’s holiday, the regular meeting for Jan. 1 has been rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. Jan. 2.

Blood drive set in Barnesville

BARNESVILLE — The public is invited to donate blood and help save the lives of area patients from 12:30-5:30 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Barnesville Hospital Blood Drive, 639 W. Main St., Barnesville. The blood drive will held in the hospital’s conference room.

The blood drive also will help Barnesville High School students earn points toward a scholarship fund. Participating donors receive a free holiday T-shirt.

Brooke residents start Scholarship

WELLSBURG — Brooke County residents Lynn and John L. Davis have established a scholarship at Lynn Davis’ undergraduate alma mater for the benefit of students graduating from any West Virginia high school or homeschooling program who choose to further their education at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla.

They created the Frances and Victor Skaggs Scholarship at ORU in memory of Lynn’s parents, both West Virginia natives and graduates of West Virginia University.
