Moundsville Man Charged With Sex Assault
A Moundsville man remains lodged in jail after being charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl last September.
In October, Marshall County deputies received a call reporting a sexual assault which was said to have happened at an apartment complex near Sherrard. Police spoke with the alleged victim, who said that at the time, she had lived at the same apartment complex as Ryan Rice, 25, of Moundsville. Rice, the girl said, had begun asking her lewd questions, and when she turned to leave Rice had followed her, before allegedly pulling her into the bathroom and sexually assaulting her.
Earlier this month, police made contact with Rice, who allegedly admitted to having voluntary intercourse with the girl.
Rice was arrested Monday and charged with second degree sexual assault, a felony.
He remains lodged at the Northern Regional Jail on $50,000 bond while awaiting his preliminary hearing Thursday.
In an unrelated incident this week, police also arrested Ryan Barr, 24 of Moundsville, after inquiring into a stolen vehicle report. The vehicle, registered in Connecticut, was soon after located at Barr’s residence, where police spoke with Barr, who said he was using the vehicle.
The alleged victim, a Connecticut resident, said Barr had taken the car from his house without consent, and drove off with it on Jan. 3. The car was valued at $12,000.
Barr was placed under arrest and charged with receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle, a felony, and posted $5,000 bond.
