Jefferson County Sheriff: Argument Between Two Men Ends With One Shot in Brilliant

A Jefferson County Road 17 resident was taken by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital Monday morning after a shooting.

Alvin Dowell, 39, was shot in the leg after an incident at the County Road 17 residence of Todd McClain, 38. Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla said Dowell was intoxicated and went to McClain’s residence.

The two got into a physical altercation. McClain managed at one point to push Dowell out of the house and Dowell began to push his way back in, according to reports. Abdalla said McClain shot Dowell in the groin with a .22 rifle. He said after he was shot, Dowell pushed his way back into the house and continued beating McClain.

Jefferson County Prosecutor Jane Hanlin will determine if charges should be filed in the case.
