Shooting Remains Under Investigation in Jefferson County
BRILLIANT — A resident of Jefferson County Road 17 was taken by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital Monday morning after a shooting incident.
Alvin Dowell, 39, was shot in the leg after an incident at the County Road 17 residence of Todd McClain, 38.
Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla said Dowell was intoxicated and went to McClain’s residence. The two allegedly got into an argument that became a physical altercation. McClain managed at one point to push Dowell out of the house and Dowell began to push his way back in the residence, according to reports.
Abdalla said McClain allegedly shot Dowell in the groin with a .22 rifle. After being shot, Dowell pushed his way back into the house and continued beating McClain, the sheriff said.
Abdalla said McClain was taken to Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, for treatment of facial injuries and other injuries. He said Jefferson County Prosecutor Jane Hanlin will review the case and make a determination about charges.
