New Uniforms Are Music to Barnesville High School Band Members’ Ears

The Barnesville Band Boosters recently purchased new uniforms for the school’s marching band, thanks in large part to the many donations it received for the endeavor.

Booster officials said they would like to thank and recognize all of the donors who gave money to be put toward the Uniform Fund.

“By your generous support and donations the band boosters were able to achieve our goal by purchasing new uniforms to help outfit the marching band students for the upcoming marching season,” booster member Derek Deal said in a news release.

The band uniforms cost $475 apiece and were ordered from Stanbury Uniforms.

“We ordered roughly 50-55 uniforms. We’re still ordering items including rain coats, so we don’t have out final bill yet,” he added.

Deal noted the band program is vital to the school and community.

“Band not only teaches musical skills and appreciation for the arts, it instills a sense of teamwork, respect and delivers a sense of accomplishment and rewards students for their hard work and effort. Our marching band is the spirit of the Barnesville Shamrocks, playing at local events and representing our community and school in parades and at football games,” Deal said.

“The Barnesville Band Boosters is a not-for-profit organization that works toward accommodating the current and future bands for years to come. The boosters aide in the advancement and welfare of the school marching band program and auxiliary,” he continued. “We could not do what we do without the support from our donors and volunteers.”

Deal noted in addition to uniforms, donations also help the band purchase instruments for student use, repair school-owned instruments, purchase auxiliary and marching band equipment, music purchases, marching band trips, and/or funds used to assist students with music-related educational opportunities.
