Juvenile in Custody After Weekend Shooting in Toronto
Toronto police are investigating the Saturday night shooting of a man in the 500 block of North Seventh Street.
Police Chief Randy Henry said the passenger of a vehicle stopped on the street was shot twice in the upper torso area by a pedestrian.
The chief said the victim appeared to be in critical condition while a juvenile male was being held for questioning and considered a suspect. Henry said the victim appeared young but it wasn’t clear if he was a minor.
Henry said after the shooting, the vehicle’s driver, an adult who wasn’t harmed, drove to the city police station about two blocks away.
He said the two entered the building, with the victim leaving a trail of blood behind him.
Henry said the victim is believed to have known his assailant, but a motive hadn’t been confirmed.
He said the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies were assisting in a search for the weapon, a revolver believed to have been thrown into a grassy area nearby.
