Interstate 70 Bridge in Wheeling Gets a Little TLC

Motorists traveling Interstate 70 west between the W.Va. 2 South/16th Street off-ramp and the Wheeling Tunnel were narrowed to one lane throughout the day Monday as crews with the West Virginia Division of Highways made repairs to the bridge deck in that area. That section of the interstate, along with an additional 7 miles, is scheduled for pavement reconstruction and rebuilding. The project is supposed to include nearly two dozen bridges on I-70 in Ohio County. However, the state DOT is re-evaluating the project after rejecting bids that came in nearly $75 million more than expected.
