Grand Jury Returns Several Indictments

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County grand jury returned seven indictments on Wednesday, including charges against a Mingo Junction man who allegedly hit a woman in the head with a brick.

∫ Christopher Wood, 39, of 257 Hallock Ave., Mingo Junction, was indicted on two counts of felonious assault, aggravated assault and possession of drugs.

City Police were called Sept. 22 to the 100 block of North Fourth Street about a woman who had been hit in the head with a brick following an altercation.

∫ Robert C. Mitchell, 49, of 518 Grandview Ave., was indicted on nine counts of drug trafficking. Mitchell was arrested on Sept. 12 following an investigation by the county drug task force.

∫Elijah Ross, 31, and Brandi Harris, 40, both of Rochester, New York, were indicted on drug charges.

Ross was indicted on four counts of drug trafficking, two counts of drug possession and single counts of tampering with evidence, receiving stolen property and having a weapon under disability. Harris was indicted on charges of illegal conveyance of prohibited items into the county jail, tampering with evidence and two counts of drug possession.

The two were apprehended Sept. 14 by Steubenville Police in the 2200 block of Sunset Boulevard, according to reports. The drug task force had conducted a series of controlled buys during the past few weeks, officials said.

The task force also raided a house at 107 McDowell Ave. and confiscated heroin, marijuana, firearms and cash, according to reports.

∫ Heather J. Buffington, no age listed, of 5014 Wylie Ridge Road, New Cumberland, was indicted on two counts each of theft of drugs and possession of drugs. The prosecutor’s office reported Buffington was a nurse at Trinity Health System.

∫ Brandon C. Porco, 48, of 1707 Halls Road, Colliers, was indicted on two counts of disseminating matter harmful to a juvenile.

∫ Millard T. Fordham, 44, of 507 Railroad Ave., was indicted on a charge of felony operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
