BELMONT COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

At 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, a complainant from Country Club Road, St. Clairsville, came to the station to report two checkbooks stolen from his unlocked vehicle sometime overnight.

At 11:29 a.m. Wednesday, a resident from Country Club Retirement Home, Cono Mara Drive, Bellaire, reported money stolen out of his room.

At 11:13 a.m. Wednesday, loss prevention from Walmart, Ohio Valley Plaza, St. Clairsville, reported a male walked out of the store with three vacuum cleaners, leaving in a vehicle with West Virginia license plates. A customer was able to record the license plate number, according to the report.

At 6:57 a.m. Tuesday, a complainant from Manitee Drive, St. Clairsville, reported someone got into his truck overnight and stole a compound bow sometime overnight. His wife’s vehicle was also entered, and shoes, clothes and an exercise mat were taken.

At 7:32 p.m. Tuesday, several units responded to a report of two runaway juveniles from the Village Network, National Road, Morristown. Juveniles were located, taken to Barnesville Hospital for clearance and then to the Sargus Juvenile Detention Center.

U.S. DISTRICT COURT

Quavonte Pugh, of Wheeling, was sentenced Thursday to 18 months in prison for a drug charge. Pugh, also known as “Q,” 22, pled guilty to one count of distribution of cocaine base within 1,000 feet of a protected location in August 2018. Pugh admitted to selling cocaine base in January 2018 near Jenson Playground in Ohio County.

Doug William Matthews, of New Martinsville, was sentenced Thursday to 15 years, 8 months in prison for his involvement in methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin distribution that spanned multiple states. Matthews, 32, pled guilty to one count of distribution of methamphetamine in proximity to a protected location in August 2018. Matthews admitted selling methamphetamine in March 2018 near Magnolia High School in Wetzel County.
