Wheeling Elks Name Heilman, Saunders, Magruder and Gentile Students of the Month for December, January

Wheeling Elks Lodge No. 28 has announced its students of the month for December and January.

The December winners are Sarah Heilman and Ronnie Saunders, both seniors at Wheeling Park High School. For January, Emma Magruder and Angelo Gentile, both seniors at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, are the students of the month.

Heilman, the daughter of Michelle and Kevin Heilman, of Wheeling, is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as freshman mentor. She is a three-time winner of a Stifel Award and is a four year member of the swim team, where she is a defending state champion in the 100-meter butterfly.

Saunders, the son of Laura McLaughlin and Walt Saunders, is a member of the math and engineering clubs and is a member of the Wheeling Park Orchestra and the Wheeling Youth Symphony. He is also a four-year member of the track and cross country teams, and recently won the state championship at the West Virginia Class AAA cross country state tournament.

Magruder, the daughter of Tami and Rob Magruder, of Wheeling, is vice president of the student council and a member of the United Way Junior Leadership Board. She was a 2018 participant at Rhododendron Girls State and is a winner of the Spirit of St. Joseph Award.

Gentile, the son of Rita and Tony Gentile, of St. Clairsville, is a four-year member of the student council and a three-year member of the National Honor Society. He is team captain of the baseball team, a volunteer at Wheeling Hospital and for the Wheeling Symphony and was a recent participant at Boys State.
