Ohio State Highway Patrol Steubenville Post Names O’Donnell Trooper of the Year

Joshua T. O’Donnell has been selected as Trooper of the Year at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Steubenville Post.

It is the second time O’Donnell has been selected for the honor at the Steubenville post.

The patrol reported fellow troopers chose O’Donnell based on his leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic attitude and cooperation with supervisors, peers and the public.

O’Donnell, 27, of Toronto joined the post in 2013. He has served at the Steubenville post since his graduation from the patrol academy.

Originally from Newark, O’Donnell is a graduate of Licking Valley High School.

“It really is quite surprising,” he said. “It is an honor that my fellow troopers think of me as a good person and a good trooper. I always try to make the best of every situation, and try to come in to work with the best attitude. You have to come in with a good attitude, especially with our job.”

Lt. Joseph Fetty, post commander, said two things stand out about O’Donnell — his work ethic and consistent job performance.

Fetty said O’Donnell comes to work with the right attitude and his work is consistent.

“He is a professional. He enjoys what he does. He takes pride in the work he does,” Fetty said.

Fetty said O’Donnell has a high level of knowledge about his job, and his expertise shows.

“He is what the Ohio State Highway Patrol epitomizes.”

O’Donnell now will move on in the competition for district trooper of the year honor.
