JB Green Team Will Open Bids for New Building

The JB Green Team is just weeks away from awarding the contract for construction of its new building at the Jefferson County Industrial Park.

Architect Gus Kayafas told the Jefferson-Belmont Solid Waste Authority on Monday bids will be opened at 10 a.m. Friday for the project, which will include offices and a garage area. Kayafas said construction was originally estimated at $1.1 million, but rocky soil conditions, coupled with higher prevailing wages, pushed the price tag up. They also added an employee parking area and “prepped for the future” by, among other things, working a loading dock into the plans.

“(About) $1.38 million, right now that’s our best estimate,” Kayafas said.

The authority plans to meet in special session at 5 p.m. March 25, possibly at Tiltonsville City Building, to award the contract.

The authority’s household hazardous waste collections will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 22 at the Ohio University Eastern Campus in St. Clairsville, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 29 by the old Sears at the Fort Steuben Mall in Steubenville. They are open to residents of Jefferson and Belmont counties with proof of residency.
