Just in time for seasonal dining, the Route 88 BBQ & Brew eatery celebrated its grand opening Thursday at Oglebay Park.

“It is under new management and is being run by Oglebay,” said Kevin Blake, Oglebay’s director of food and beverage. “It was managed by a third party last year.”

The restaurant also has a new menu and a new outdoor dining area. It is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

Located at the Par 3 Driving Range off W.Va. 88, the casual dining spot features house-smoked beef brisket, pork and chicken, along with house-made side dishes, a selection of craft brews and other beverages.

Seating is available inside the Par 3 clubhouse and outside on a paved terrace. Carry-out orders also are offered.

The facility is pet-friendly, Blake added.

“It will be a seasonal operation,” he said, adding it will be open through October.

Meat platters and sandwiches are being sold with a choice of side dishes. Individual sides also may be purchased.

Featured side dishes are Southern vinegar slaw, potato salad, JoJo potatoes, onion rings, bourbon baked beans and baked mac & cheese. Southern banana pudding is on the menu for dessert.

Meanwhile, Blake said Oglebay’s Garden Bistro is set to re-open for the season on May 24. The outdoor dining venue overlooks the Terrace Gardens in Oglebay’s hilltop area.

The bistro’s farm-to-table menu features regionallysourced produce, free-range chicken and eggs, grass-fed beef and hand-crafted bread. It also offers a selection of gluten-free items and vegetarian cuisine.

Beginning May 24, the Garden Bistro will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesday through Sunday. It is closed Tuesdays.
