McBee Recognized as Distinguished Administrator

The West Virginia Health Care Association has honored Christopher McBee, executive director of New Martinsville Center-Genesis HealthCare, as the Distinguished Administrator of the Year.

During an award ceremonies in Morgantown, McBee received recognition for establishing relationships with residents and communicating effectively with center employees.

“Always with a smile on his face, Chris inspires comfort and hospitality in his center,” said Marty Wright, the association’s CEO. “He is a model administrator who always strives to expand residents’ experiences.

“Chris and his team are caring people who have earned respect in their community and among his peers,” Wright added. “His center received Five-Star recognition in 2018, a top-level federal ranking that validates his focus on residents and those who deliver care.”

McBee converted the center’s existing Resident Council into a Resident Action Council by using proven quality improvement strategies.

With his support and tutoring, the Resident Action Council moved toward encouraging residents to solve problems they identify.

He also established an Employee Appreciation Committee to recognize the contributions staff members make in caring for residents.

Additionally, McBee participates in his community by supporting sweater drives for veterans, Valentines for veterans and coat drives for needy families at Christmas.

He previously served as administrator at Sistersville Center-Genesis HealthCare.
