Family Loses Home
WHEELING – Donations are being accepted for a family who lost their home to a Thursday fire.
Wheeling firefighters battled the blaze at 140 Stone Church Road after the initial call came in just after 5:30 p.m., and the residents were evacuating the structure, according to Lt. Pat DeLuca.
The fire began on the first floor, caught the walls and moved quickly into the attic. The home appeared be a total loss, and firefighters remained on the scene for several hours. No injuries were reported.
The home is owned by Kathy Cassi. She and her three children all need clothing as a result, according to Richard Dunlevy, a baseball and basketball coach for one of the children.
He said a daughter, age 18, wears a size small shirt, size 1 pants and size 7 shoes; a son, 16, wears adult medium shirts, 32×32 pants and size 12 shoes; and a son, 10, wears youth large shirts, size 10-12 pants, and 6.5 shoes. Cassi needs women’s large shirts, size 8-10 pants and 6.5 shoes.
Clothing donations can be dropped off at Elm Grove Elementary School, and an account will be set up at the United Bank Elm Grove branch for monetary donations.
