Bransfield: Decision Shows Devotion

WHEELING – The bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston in West Virginia says Pope Benedict XVI’s decision to resign shows his love and devotion for the church.

Bishop Michael J. Bransfield said that the pope is being realistic about his physical limitations. Bransfield says he admires Benedict for his courage and humility.

The 85-year-old Benedict announced today that he is stepping down Feb. 28. He said he lacks the strength to fulfill his duties.
