DeWine: Rape Case Not Over
STEUBENVILLE — Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine this morning called on Jefferson County officials to convene a grand jury in April to continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the Steubenville rape case.
“The investigation cannot be completed, we cannot bring finality without convening a grand jury,” DeWine said at a press conference in Steubenville following the guilty verdicts against 17-year-old Trent Mays and 16-year-old Ma’lik Richmond.
DeWine said his prosecutors have plenty of evidence that could be presented to a grand jury to determine if any other crimes were committed.
The public “needs assurances that no stone is left unturned in our search for the truth,” he said.
