Yorkville Native Killed In Virginia

YORKVILLE – A 24-year-old Yorkville native reportedly was shot and killed Saturday evening in a residential neighborhood located near the Norfolk Naval Station.

The Norfolk, Va. Police Department is investigating the case and are not releasing the victim’s name, pending official notification with his family.

The alleged shooter is a 22-year-old Wisconsin native and Norfolk resident, Austin T. Greening.

Greening has been held in the Norfolk City Jail since his arrest in connection with the shooting Saturday evening.

He remains in custody without bond.

Police were called to the Norfolk residence of Greening via a 911 call at about 7 p.m. Saturday on a report that a man had been shot.

There they found the victim who was “pronounced dead at the scene.”

Greening was scheduled for an initial arraignment in court today. In addition to a murder charge, he is facing a charge in connection with the use of a firearm.

According to police reports, the victim was Norfolk Police officials confirmed late Sunday they could not comment on any details of the alleged incident as it is policy not to discuss matters in connection with any ongoing investigation.
