Ferry Man Allegedly Robs Gas Station

WHEELING – After chasing him across state lines, on foot and into someone’s home, Wheeling police arrested Terrance Holley of Martins Ferry for allegedly robbing a Marathon gas station, 2060 National Road, with a gun on Saturday.

Officers were called the scene at 12:30 a.m. and told a large, black man was making a purchase and then demanded money as the clerk opened the cash register drawer. While doing so, the suspect reached into his waistband and threatened to shoot the clerk.

At 12:47 a.m., officers on Wheeling Island saw the suspect’s vehicle, a white Dodge Avenger with Ohio plates, traveling west on Zane Street. They attempted to stop the vehicle, but fled into Ohio with multiple cruisers in pursuit. The vehicle turned onto Ohio 7 traveling toward Martins Ferry.

On Broadway Street, the suspect jumped out of his moving vehicle that continued on, stopping after it struck a cement planter. Wheeling officers ran after the man and arrested him inside a Broadway Street residence.

Martins Ferry police are charging Holley with burglary, fleeing and violating a protective order, while Wheeling officers obtained warrants for Holley for first degree robbery and felony fleeing. The warrants were faxed to Martins Ferry for Holley to be extradited.
