The occupants of the house all got out of the residence without injury.
The house sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. The cause of the blaze was not known at press time.
Tankers were used to battle the blaze in the rural location.
Meanwhile, fire crews were called to reports of heavy smoke on Fish Ridge Road about 3.7 miles southeast of Cameron at 1:45 p.m. Monday. Upon arrival, firefighters found a large pile of wood and straw burning at a construction lot on Fish Ridge Road.
The blaze was supposed to be a controlled burn but became much larger than expected. Firefighters said there were numerous containers of fuel in close proximity to the fire which took about 25 minutes to contain.
