Two Are Arrested For Meth

NEW MARTINSVILLE – Police arrested a man and woman late Wednesday at the Plaza Inn, 291 W.Va. 2, in New Martinsville for allegedly making crystal meth.

New Martinsville residents Amanda A. Long, 29, and Michael R. Briggs, 25, were arrested at about midnight.

Wednesday at the hotel for allegedly making methamphetamine.

Capt. Steve Kastigar said the department has made arrests in four or five other unrelated meth operations during the past month.

Most of those were of the “shake and bake” variety, he said.

“It’s still dangerous. They do the mixing in 2-liter bottles. They let it sit and a chemical reaction occurs inside the bottle,” Kastigar said. “A lot of times when they do it, they mix it and leave on the side of the road. If it has a bad reaction it explodes.”

Long and Briggs still were being held in the Northern Regional Jail at press time.
