Phelps Pleads, Sentencing Begins Friday

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Brandon Phelps, one of the two men accused of murdering an elderly Bellaire woman in June of 2012, entered an Alford plea to all charges on today.

Phelps was charged with one count of manslaughter and one count of aggravated burglary.

The Alford plea means Phelps admits that the evidence the prosecution has would likely persuade a judge or jury to find him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

His co-defendant, Devin Wayne Fuller, was sentenced last month to life without parole after a jury found him guilty on charges of aggravated murder committed in the course of aggravated burglary, one count of aggravated burglary, and one count of burglary.

Sentencing for Phelps will begin Friday morning.
