Tractor Trailer Spills Degreaser on Burch Ridge
PROCTOR – Burch Ridge Road remained closed this morning as environmental clean-up crews working with the West Virginia Division of Highways manage a spill from a tractor trailer accident.
According to Marshall County Emergency Management Director Tom Hart, the vehicle had spilled 10 55-gallon containers of an industrial strength degreaser at about 12:15 a.m. while traveling to a gas well site.
Hart said the material was not near a water source or any residences.
“It was an oversized vehicle on a very narrow winding road,” Hart said. “It’s not a roadway that is tractor-trailer friendly.”
Officials said crews hope to have the road back open by noon today.
It was unclear this morning if any injuries resulted from the accident as emergency personnel investigates the incident.
