Democrats Tap Fluharty, Smith
WHEELING – Ohio County Democrats on Tuesday tapped Holli Smith and Shawn Fluharty as their nominees to the 3rd District House of Delegates seat.
Smith came out on top after receiving 1,771 votes, while Fluharty had 1,489. Retired Wheeling firefighter David Palmer captured 1,411. Vote totals are unofficial until certified by canvass.
Smith said she was grateful to the voters of Ohio County, and she credited her victory to those working for her campaign.
“I was very fortunate to have a team of volunteers working for me – it was a team effort,” she said.
Fluharty also expressed gratitude to Ohio County voters.
“I look forward to again giving them a reason to vote for me in the fall,” he said.
He complimented both Smith and Palmer for their campaign efforts.
