Lowry to Speak At River City Thursday
WHEELING – Nationally known political columnist Rich Lowry will be in Wheeling on Thursday as the West Liberty University Economics Club speaker series continues.
Lowry, editor of the National Review, will speak at noon at River City Ale Works at 14th and Main streets. There will be a buffet lunch, and attendees may pay at the door by cash or check.
Lowry joined the staff of the National Review in 1992, becoming editor in 1997. His columns appear regularly in The Intelligencer.
Lowry is a 1990 graduate of the University of Virginia.
He worked as a research assistant for Charles Krauthammer and as a reporter for a local newspaper in northern Virginia before joining the National Review.
He also serves as a commentator for the Fox News Channel.
The University Economics Club is sponsored by the BB&T Center for Economic Philosophy, chaired by Erik Root, associate professor of political science at WLU. The center is funded through a grant from BB&T Bank.
Additional upcoming University Economics Club events include an appearance by Joy Pullmann, research fellow at The Heartland Institute, on July 24.
Her writing focuses on education reform topics, particularly Common Core education standards.
