WHEELING – A picnic and concert will complete today’s West Virginia Day celebration marking the state’s 151st birthday.

Tonight, the city of Wheeling will celebrate with a free concert at Heritage Port. Music begins at 5:30 p.m. with entertainment provided by Hit Play, Adrian Niles and Johnny Staats.

Food and drink vendors will be on-site, and beer will be sold. In the event of rain, the concert will be held inside WesBanco Arena.

In Glen Dale, the Cockayne Farmstead Doc Hollen’s Snake Oil Medicine Show is at the farmstead all day with a medicine wagon to pitch his Snake Oil and his famous Sheep Dip and Hair Restorative in a free, fun activity for all.

A picnic supper with Doc Hollen will be held from 6-8 p.m., though reservations are required.
