Take a Look ‘Through the Lens’ with The Intelligencer’s New Book
WHEELING — Fifty years of iconic photographs will be on display in “Through the Lens,” a 128-page hardcover keepsake book that features the photographic talents of P. Andrew Lloyd, Scott McCloskey and Art Limann.
The book is a perfect gift for that hard-to-shop-for friend or relative, as it highlights 50 years of photos that graced the pages of The Intelligencer, Wheeling News-Register and The Times Leader.
Among some of the more memorable photos will be pictures from presidential visits; bridge demolitions; breathtaking scenery; sports action; river life; local and national entertainers; and the region’s youth.
There also will be photos of disasters, from flooding to fires, and how the region always comes together to lend a helping hand to those in need.
All the photos focus on life in the Ohio Valley, from how it’s lived to some of the interesting characters that have graced area residents with their presence to the pride our residents show for their country.
“This book will be perfect for anyone who loves life in the Ohio Valley,” said John McCabe, the newspapers’ managing editor. “Andy Lloyd, Scott McCloskey and Art Limann are and were masters of their craft, and over the past 50 years their pictures have helped to tell the Ohio Valley’s story. We are excited for this project, and hope you join us in this pictorial look back at our region.”
The cost of the book is $29.95, with an additional $6.95 shipping and handling fee. Books can be ordered by using the form below, or online by visiting our website, theintelligencer.net, and clicking on the “Through the Lens” link on the right-hand side of the page.
