Happy Couples View Variety of Wedding Options at Newspapers’ Bridal Show in St. Clairsville

ST . CLAIRSVILLE — Area food vendors, dress shops, venues, photographers, cake crafters and more showcased their talents and products to scores of future brides and grooms in Belmont County Sunday.

The Intelligencer, the Wheeling News-Register and The Times Leader hosted the 2017 Brides Brunch and Bands Wedding Show at the James E. Carnes Center in St. Clairsville. The event, sponsored by Main Street Bank, featured live music by local bands such as The Muddle and Hit Play, a large array of refreshments in the form of sample wedding fare and door prizes provided by each of the more than 30 participating vendors.

Grand prize vacation packages included a trip to North Myrtle Beach, sponsored by Panhandle Cleaning & Restoration; a two-night trip for two to Seven Springs Mountain Resort; and a four-day, three-night stay for two adults at Barcelo Hotel & Resort in Aruba, sponsored by Westwind Travel.

Sorelle Bridal Salon of Washington, Pa., also provided a fashion show, featuring several modern wedding dress designers, beginning at 2 p.m.

Owner Jeanie Lambert said the event is a great opportunity for future brides to see the latest styles.

“We love working with the brides of the Ohio Valley and look forward to meeting many more in the future,” she said. “We’re a family-owned business, and one thing that sets us apart from others is that we have a hair salon and a beauty salon attached to the building. … We give personal attention at our boutique shop, making the experience worthwhile.”

Brad Riser, owner of Masterpieces of Old Town in Wheeling, offered samples of his classic white wedding cake, along with tips for future brides, such as planning the cake at least nine months before the wedding date.

“A cake is symbolic to a wedding and a perfect way to personalize the event,” he said. “There are no rules for a wedding cake anymore. There could be individual cakes, a dessert buffet of cakes or cake center pieces, although the traditional stack cake will always reign.”

Mark Tiberio visited the show with a dual focus Sunday, supporting his fiancee Katie Lynn Harris and showcasing their Steubenville-based business, Katie Lynn’s Photobooth. In addition to working the event, Harris enjoyed refreshments and the fashion show.

“This event gives brides a chance to get in the photo booth and see the improvements photo booths have had over the years. Many brides may not have thought to have one because they’re used to the older style enclosed booths. We have an open air design, which is unique, with a lot of capabilities,” Tiberio said.

“We can text, email and do Facebook uploads right from the booth. It’s another source of entertainment. Some people don’t want to dance, and this gives them something to do,” he added.

Future bride Brooke Jones of Woodsfield came to the show to prepare for her 2019 wedding.

“I got ideas today about cakes, DJs and dresses,” Jones said. “I don’t think most people know about all of these places and the services they offer, so it’s nice to see what’s out there.”

“We at the newspapers would like to thank all of the bands and vendors who helped make our event a tremendous success,” said Jennifer Compston-Strough, managing editor of The Times Leader. “We truly enjoyed hosting all of these happy couples and their friends and families.”

Carol Barlow, owner of the St. Clairsville-based Custom Fashions, was on hand to meet with couples and explain how she could alter any off-the-rack dress or make a dress from any pattern to suit the individual bride, mother of the bride or wedding guest. In addition, she showcased a variety of fashionable scarves and handmade crafts to demonstrate how she could help add a personal touch to customize a ceremony or reception.

Selfie Snaps of Martins Ferry was also on site to let attendees see how much fun their photobooth service can be. Lisa White of Westwind Travel was present to help couples plan honeymoons or to assist as friends plotted a location for a bridal shower. Premier Designs and the Jeweled Bird showed off various sort of “bling” for brides and attendants, Jennifer Staley of Beyond Balloons demonstrated ways she could help dress up a venue and Kirke’s Ice Cream, Perkins Restaurant & Bakery and Theo’s Restaurant of Cambridge all provided samples of delicious treats that would be ideal to serve to wedding guests.
