Three Hurt In Drive-By Shooting in Steubenville
STEUBENVILLE — Police in Steubenville are investigating a drive-by shooting overnight that left three females injured.
Police were called at about 12:25 a.m. today to the 100 block of North Seventh Street about shots fired. Once on the scene, officers discovered three females were hit with bullets.
Police Chief William McCafferty said the three females and a male were walking down the street when a van came up from behind them and multiple shots were fired from the van. Officers discovered 20 shell casings at the scene.
A 15-year-old female was shot in the hand and shoulder. Nikita Pearson, 20, of Steubenville was shot in the ankle and thigh, and a 17-year-old female was shot in the left thigh.
The females fled after the shooting but came back once police arrived, police reported.
McCafferty said none of the bullet wounds are life threatening.
Approximately two hours later, police received an anonymous tip that the van that may have been involved in the shooting was abandoned on Spring Avenue. Officers said the van was found without keys and the sliding door was open. Police towed the van to the police station to be processed for evidence.
