Trinity Hospital in Steubenville Reports First Baby Of 2018

Photo provided The first reported birth of 2018 in the Ohio Valley is Amelia Andrea LaFond, daughter of Dana Vause and Bryan LaFond of Chester.

STEUBENVILLE – Amelia Andrea LaFond is the first local baby of 2018 according to officials at Trinity Health System in Steubenville.

LaFond entered the world at 1:39 a.m. Monday. She is the daughter of Dana Vause and Bryan LaFond of Chester.

Trinity Health System officials said a second baby was born later Monday morning.

No other area hospitals reported any new births as of Monday evening.

LaFond was not due until Jan. 8, according to her mother. Although she arrived more than a week early, she weighs 7-pounds, 13-ounces and is 21 inches long.

“I pushed for a half hour and before I knew it she came right out. She’s healthy and super, super happy — so good,” said Vause.
