Mud slide closes Wheeling Hill; Rain brings Ohio River crest to 42 feet
WHEELING — Wheeling Hill, a main artery between downtown, Fulton and Woodsdale, is closed this afternoon due to a mud slide.
Crews were working to clear the area and get it reopened. The slide happened after a steady rainfall overnight and through the early afternoon soaked the area.
The rain also has pushed predictions for the Ohio River’s crest to 41.5 feet at Wheeling and 42 feet at Pike Island, as of 2 p.m. today.
From Ohio County 911: “Due a mudslide Wheeling Hill from the area of Mt Wood Rd down to Fulton at Bow St (generations) is CLOSED per the DOH.”
