Lights Out for Elm Grove as Tree Falls on Utility Pole

Motorists travel Monday along National Road in the Elm Grove section of Wheeling, where a power outage left customers without electricity for most of the day. AEP said a tree fell on a pole that then broke, which caused the power lines to fall and the blackout to happen. The outage included traffic lights, so officials installed temporary stop signs, shown above, at intersections. AEP said most of its customers had their power restored by late evening.
