Emergency personnel respond Sunday evening to a vacant house collapse at 1115 Lind St. in East Wheeling. Capt. David Harmon of the Wheeling Fire Department said officials had been aware of the structure’s poor condition for some time. “It’s been vacant for a while — years,” he said. “We noticed a hole in the roof a long time ago, that had been there for years. You could see it from on Vine Street.” Harmon said a city building inspector and code enforcement officers would evaluate the site today and determine whether the collapse could threaten the home next door, which is occupied.
