Water Valve Replacement on Main Street in Wheeling Will Last Another Week
WHEELING — A water valve replacement project that has closed Main Street at 16th Street since Jan. 7 will now last through Friday, Jan. 25, the West Virginia Division of Highways announced Wednesday.
The closure, which prohibits traffic from turning on to 16th Street but allows for traffic to flow south into Center Wheeling, has been necessary while city workers replace water valves. The road originally was set to be closed through Friday, but now will last another week.
The city of Wheeling found one valve under the street dating back to 1881.
