Convicted Drug Trafficker Arrested Again in Wheeling

A man with two prior felony convictions for trafficking drugs was arrested again on drug charges.

On May 29, Ohio County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a search warrant at 321 N. Huron St. in Wheeling, where drug deals were reportedly being conducted.

At the residence, Deante “G” Creel, 32, of Wheeling, was detained, along with others who told police they were there to purchase drugs from “G.” A confidential informant had allegedly seen Creel engaging in numerous drug deals the day prior to police arriving, where one man had traded a gun for fentanyl.

During a search of the residence, police said they found two guns, a Ruger pistol and a Raven Arms pistol, and a bag containing almost 30 grams of methamphetamine.

Creel was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a felony, and felon in possession of a firearm. He has two prior convictions for felony trafficking in drugs, once in 2012 out of Cleveland, and once in 2007. He also has a history of felonious assault from 2006 and a probation violation from 2012.

He remains lodged at the Northern Regional Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. His preliminary hearing before Magistrate Charles Murphy is set for Aug. 8.

In an unrelated case the same day, deputies also arrested Michael Pyles, who took off running from a residence at 9 Suncrest Ave. during the execution of a search warrant. Pyles was found hiding outside a house and detained.

During questioning, Pyles allegedly told police that he had seen police patrolling Wheeling Island, which prompted him to go to the house.

Pyles said he knocked and entered the house, which was apparently empty, and began looting the residence, taking cash off a table and a pair of gloves, which he said he liked, from inside, according to court documents. He allegedly said he was beginning to look at a safe when he heard car doors close, prompting him to run away. He also said he began scraping a white powder out of a blender into a folded bill. which was found nearby when he was arrested.

Police recovered $3,150 from where Pyles had run until he was caught.

He was charged with burglary, a felony and posted $50,000 bond.

His hearing is also Aug. 8 before Murphy.
