George S. Douglas

DOUGLAS, George S. (Deer Slayer,) 84, of Wellsburg, W.Va., died September 27, 2007, in Trinity West Steubenville, Ohio.

He was born November 25, 1922 in Roadsdale, Ohio, the son of the late William Douglas and Clementine Smith Douglas.

He was retired from Weirton Steel Blast Furnace; an Army Veteran of World War II, where served as an air force engineer; a member of Wellsburg Moose; and the VFW; Past President of the Northern Panhandle Bowmans Club; and an avid hunter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Pottersnyk Douglas, who passed August 31, 2007; three brothers, Harold Douglas, William Douglas and James Douglas; three sisters, Dora Bowman, Lenora Craft and Melba Alexander; and one grandchild, Lerra Douglas, who passed in 2005.

Survived by two sons, George Larry Douglas and his wife, Debbie, of Wellsburg and Samuel K. Douglas of Wellsburg; one daughter, Margaret Ann Walker of Steubenville, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Lorrie, Loretta, Sean, Michael, Jamie, Natasha and Nathan; and three great-grandchildren, Jessica, William, Michael; and also several nieces and nephews.

Visitation on Sunday, September 30, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Reasner Funeral Home, 1515 Charles Street Wellsburg, where service will be held on Monday October 1, 2007 at 2 p.m.with Pastor Joy Leasure, Wellsburg Community of Christ Church, officiating.

Interment in St. Johns Cemetery, Colliers.

Full military graveside service with the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.

There will be a Wellsburg Moose Lodge Service at the funeral home 7 p.m. on Sunday.
