ARBOGAST, Jack Lee, Sr., 85, of Wellsburg, W.Va., passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2007, in Wheeling Medical Park.
He was born on January 16, 1922, in Wellsburg, a son of the late Harry and Cecil Postlethwait Arbogast. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Harry Arbogast, Jr.
He was a 1941 graduate of Wellsburg High School.
Jack worked for the former Hudson Pulp and Paper Factory; retired from the Brooke County Board of Education, where he was a school bus driver and janitor at Edgewood Elementary; and was a WWII veteran of the Army, having served in the Fourth Infantry.
Jack was a member of the Wellsburg Christian Church; American Legion; V.F.W.; and the Loyal Order of Moose No. 1564 all in Wellsburg.
He was an avid follower of Brooke High School Athletics.
Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Herman Arbogast at home; two sons, Jack Lee Arbogast, Jr. and David B. Cross and wife, Terry, both of Wellsburg; two grandchildren, David F. Cross and wife, Cheryl, and Danielle McCracken and husband, Thomas; six great-grandchildren, Erica, Alexa, Bria, and Ashton Cross, and Colin and Adam McCracken.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 26, 2007, from 5-9 p.m., at the Chambers Funeral Home, 1030 Main St., Wellsburg, WV.
Private services will be held Thursday, September 27, 2007.
Interment will follow in Brooke Cemetery, Wellsburg.
