Sarah Thomas

THOMAS, Sarah “Opal” Cunningham, 74, of Wheeling, W.Va., died Sunday, December 16, 2007, in Wheeling Hospital.

She was born July 19, 1933, in East Liverpool, Ohio, daughter of the late Coleman W. and Elva Jane Davis Cunningham.

Mrs. Thomas was a retired Registered Nurse having worked at both the Ohio Valley Medical Center and the Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital. She was a graduate of East Liverpool High School and the Cleveland City Hospital School of Nursing, and she was a faithful member of the National Road Church of Christ, Wheeling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Coleman W. Cunningham, Jr.

She is survived by her loving husband, Harold O. Thomas; two daughters, Kim Truax and her husband, Todd, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Andrea Thomas Carter of Wheeling; a granddaughter, Molly Beth Truax of Missouri; a grandson, Carter Thomas Truax of Missouri; three sisters, Elva Mae McKee of Fairlawn, Ohio, Mary Helen Riley and her husband, Robert, Jr., and Linda Lee Slegelmitch of Purverse, Mississippi; three brothers, Thomas Cunningham and his wife, Naomi, of Brookeland, Texas, Charles R. Cunningham and his wife, LaVerne, and Richard W. Cunningham and his wife, Deborah all of East Liverpool.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service with the family at 7 p.m., Thursday, December 20, 2007, at the National Road Church of Christ, 1310 National Road, Wheeling.
