WASEMANN, Albert, J., age 85, of Valparaiso, Ind., passed away at the Horton VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso on Tuesday, June 9, 2009.
Born in Wheeling, W.Va., on March 25, 1924 to the late Albert L. and Bertha (nee Stahl) Wasemann.
A resident of Valparaiso since 1961 and formerly of Wheeling, W.Va., Albert was a millwright at Midwest Steel Co. and retired in 1986.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Valparaiso, enjoyed rebuilding pianos during his retirement, especially player-pianos, and his favorite vacation spot was Walt Disney World.
Survived by wife, Ruth E. Wasemann of Valparaiso, Ind.; seven children, Gary J. (Cheryl) Wasemann of Valparaiso, IN, Barbara (Ted) Cuson of Valparaiso, Ind., David (Frances) Wasemann of Jacksonville, Fla, Jeff (Vicki) Wasemann of Valparaiso, Ind, Linda K. (Kevin) Phillips of Valparaiso, Ind, Debbie Wasemann of Chicago, Ill, and John W. (Kristen) Wasemann of Valparaiso, Ind.; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Kathryn Wasemann; brother, Robert (Marthagail) Wasemann.
Preceded in death by brother William Wasemann.
Services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. from the Dykes Funeral Home, 2305 N. Campbell St., Valparaiso, to St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 W. Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, for an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass with the Rev. Joseph Pawlowski, officiating.
Interment, St. Paul Cemetery, Valparaiso.
Friends may call at Dykes Funeral Home on Thursday, June 11, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m.
