MILES, David L., 71, died Saturday, July 3, 2010 in Buckhannon, W.Va., after an extended illness.
Mr. Miles was born July 7, 1938, in Buckhannon, W.Va., the son of the late William (Mac) Miles and Evelyn Grace (Marple) Miles currently residing in Sistersville, WV., formerly of Hackers Creek, W.Va.
Mr. Miles is survived by four daughters, Deborah K. (Phillip) Kittle of Pleasant Valley, Mary E. (Charles) Young of New Martinsville, Lisa M. (Mark) Goodhart of Batesville, Ohio and Terri R. (John) Boggs of New Martinsville; grandchildren, Amanda (Richard) Scott and Alicia Johnson of Cameron, W.Va., Jennifer (Jimmy) Kittle of Moundsville, Charles (Crystal) Young Jr., of Sistersville, Everett (Trish) Young of New Martinsville, Jonathan Young of Moundsville, Mary Elizabeth Young of New Martinsville, Samantha Goodhart of Batesville, Ohio, James Haught, Kara and Alyssa Boggs, all of New Martinsville; great-grandchildren, Trey, Trin and Kori Scott of Cameron, Gavin Lee Johnson (son of GySgt. Daniel L. Johnson, USMC) of Cameron, Kaitlyn and Jarrett Groves of Moundsville, Brianna, Jacob, Blake, Wyatt, Hunter, Dillon, Hayle and Caydance Young, former wife of 41 years Mary Lou (Ater) Miles of New Martinsville; one sister Mary Louise Nazelrod of Buckhannon; two nieces and one nephew, several cousins and one aunt complete the family.
Mr. Miles graduated from the West Virginia School of Law in 1993 and was successful in establishing the Law Offices of David L. Miles located on Main Street, New Martinsville for several years. In the 1970’s Mr. Miles and then wife, Mary Lou Miles, established the David Miles Insurance agency in New Martinsville. Mr. Miles was the secretary for the New Martinsville Lions Club. In the 1960’s era, Mr. Miles was the engineer and the morning “on air” voice for the local radio station WETZ, located in New Martinsville; he was also a former Amateur Ham Radio Operator under the call letters of W8TGT/ N8FXP. Mr. Miles enjoyed working with computers and piloting his own airplane.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at 11:30 AM in the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Lowell H. Swisher officiating. Private burial will be held in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
