Earl Couch

COUCH, Earl “Dean,” 78, of Beech Bottom, W.Va., passed away, Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Wheeling Medical Park, Wheeling, W.Va.

He was born March 21, 1932 in Power, W.Va., son of the late George K. “Happy” Couch and Bertha Young Couch. Also preceding him in death were his stepmother, Irma Couch, his first wife, Alice Mae Charlton Couch on April 22, 1988, four brothers, Donald, Thomas, Robert, and George W. Couch, one sister, Louise Couch Belinsky.

Dean was a graduate of Wellsburg High School in 1952, an Air Force mechanic, US Airman 1st Class in Sioux City, Iowa, from 1952-1956, a member of the New Day Christian Church, and Christian by faith. He was a Co-Owner/Maintenance Director of Valley Haven Geriatric Center, in Beech Bottom, W.Va., and worked for the Brooke County Board of Education as a custodian and as a school bus driver.

Surviving are his second wife, Jean Ann Lucas Couch, at home, three sons, George Couch and his wife, Carol, of Wheeling, W.Va., Larry Couch, of New Martinsville, W.Va., and Andrew Couch and his wife, Kimberly, of Falmouth, Maine, one brother, James H. Couch of Twin Falls, Idaho, five grandchildren, Lauren Couch Dooley and her husband, Scott, of Canonsburg, Pa., Aaron Couch, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Spencer and Austin Couch, of Falmouth, Maine, and Laken Couch, of New Martinsville, W.Va., one great- granddaughter, Madelyn Diane Dooley, of Canons burg, Pa., three stepchildren, Robert Lucas and his wife, Patty, of Avella, Pa., Paul Lucas and his wife, Cindy, of Culpeper, Va., and Kathy Diserio and her husband, Paul, of Wellsburg, W.Va., ten step-grandchildren, Marsha Walther and her husband, Cyril, of Avella, Pa., Robert Lucas, Jr. and his wife, Paula, of Meadville, Pa., Daniel Lucas and his wife, Kayleigh, of Avella, Pa., James Lucas II and his wife, Amber, of Wellsburg, W.Va., Ashleigh Diserio, of Falls Church, Va., Kurtis Diserio, of Wellsburg, W.Va., and Lucas Diserio, of Fayetteville, N.C., Amanda Lucas, of Virginia Beach, Va., Chad and Adam Lucas, both of Culpeper, Va., seven step great-grand children, Madelyn, Alayna, and Cyril Walther, all of Avella, Pa., Austin and Tyler Lucas, both of Meadville, Pa., James Lucas II and Jayden Lucas, both of Wellsburg, W.Va and one sister, Nora Mae Somerville, of St. Clairsville, Ohio.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and again on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 9:30 until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Angel Adams, officiating at the Chambers Funeral Home, 1030 Main St. Wellsburg, WV 26070. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Military Honors by : The Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
