Sandra Stenger

STENGER, Sandra Lee (Jaeger), 62, of Glen Dale, W.Va., passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale.

Sandie was born January 22, 1949 in Wheeling, W.Va., the daughter of the late Edward P. and Pauline (Harmison) Jaeger. She was a retired teacher from St. James & John Elementary School, Benwood and a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Glen Dale, where she had just recently been elected to parish council. Sandie was also co-owner of Coach’s Bar & Grill, McMechen, for 18 years; past-president of the Marshall County ARC; past-president of the Bishop Donahue High School Board; a recipient of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston Bishop’s Cross Award; member of a Birthday Club for 35 years; and was and avid Notre Dame fan and season ticket holder.

In addition to her parents, Sandie was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Norman R. Stenger; a son, Joshua M. Jacobs of Wheeling; three brothers, Edward A. Jaeger and his wife, Amy, Michael A. Jaeger and his wife, Annette and Charles C. Jaeger and his wife, Dottie, all of Wheeling; an aunt, Jacqueline Yuncke and her husband, Robert of Wheeling; a sister-in-law, Jerilyn Joan McMahon and her husband, Keith of Homosassa, Fla.; three nephews, Blair McMahon and his wife, Lori Ann of Hilton Head, S.C., Isaac McMahon and his wife, Christy of Delaware and Lincoln McMahon and his wife, Laura of Delaware; a great-niece, Brooke McMahon; four cousins, David Yuncke and his wife, Karen, Thomas Yuncke and his wife, Kathy, James Yuncke and Mark Yuncke and his wife, Jolie, all of Wheeling; several nieces and nephews; and Sandie’s puppy, Irish.

Friends received 2-8 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2011 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, where a vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Glen Dale, with the Rev. John Gallagher as celebrant. Entombment will be in Mount Calvary Garden Mausoleum, Wheeling. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either, Bishop Donahue Memorial Central Catholic High School, 325 Logan Street, McMechen, WV 26040 or St. James and John Elementary School, 52 Seventh St., Benwood, WV 26031.
