Emma Ghent

GHENT, Emma Marie Capps, 87, of Wheeling, W.Va., died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 one day before her 88th birthday in Heartland Lansing Nursing Home.

She was born December 29, 1923, in Wheeling, W.Va., the daughter of the late Chester and Daisy Muhleman Capps.

Mrs. Ghent was a retired office manager for Central Union Building, was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church, where she was very active and where she and her husband started the food pantry and free Sunday lunch.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Ghent in September 2011; two sisters, Helen Harden and Dorothy Capps; two brothers, William and Chester Capps.

Surviving are three children, Kathy M. Luikart of Wheeling, W.Va., Pamela K. Becker and her husband, Gary of Sewickley, Pa., and Brian W. Ghent of Wheeling; five grandchildren, Noah and Matthew Becker, Amy Luikart, Lori Luikart Mozingo, Melissa Luikart; seven great-grandchildren, Kylie Mae Mozingo, Steven Michael, Emma Marie Mozingo, Braiden Luikart, Jayden Beth Mozingo, Lydia Luikart Mount and Michael Conner Luikart Mount and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Kepner Funeral Home, 1308 Chapline St., Wheeling (304-232-5110) with the Rev. James Kelly and the Rev. Theresa Kelly officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the St. Lukes Episcopal Church Food Pantry in c/o St. Lukes Episcopal Church, 200 S. Penn St., Wheeling, WV 26003.
