GULLA, Paul Joseph Gulla, 69, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 13, 2012, at his Bellaire, Ohio, home.
He was born January 5, 1943, in Bellaire, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph P. and Helen V. Oates Gulla.
Paul was a retired employee of the Ohio Valley Coal Company, Alledonia, Ohio. At one time he was a barber and part owner of the Paul and Rodger’s Barber Shop and was also part owner of Gulla’s Lunch.
He was a member of the St. John Catholic Church in Bellaire; a member of the Ohio Valley Elks, Sons of Italy Lodge 754, Shadyside American Legion Post 521, the United Mine Workers of America and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was also a member of the Moundsville Country Club until this year.
Paul was an avid golfer and over the years, he won a few local golf tournaments. From his love of golf, he had made an amazing group of friends.
Surviving are his wife of forty-seven years, Linda L. Thomas Gulla; a son, Brian Joseph (Kim) Gulla of Jacobsburg; a daughter, Leigh Ann (Joel) Domb-kowski of Pittsburgh, PA; five grandsons whom he loved dearly, Brian, Caleb and Anthony Gulla, Zachary and Jacob Dombkowski; two brothers, Richard L. Gulla and Duane (Mickey) Gulla both of Bellaire, Ohio; mother-in-law, Lillian Parker of Boggs Run, West Virginia; sister-in-law, Linda Gulla of Shadyside, Ohio; three brothers-in-law, David (Barb) Parker and Mark Parker both of Moundsville, West Virginia and Greg (Christine) Parker of St. Clairsville, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory, 441 37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio, on Sunday from 2-8 pm. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at the St. John Catholic Church Bellaire, Ohio with Fr. Daniel Heusel the Celebrant. Inurnment will be held at the Guardian Angel Mausoleum in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Bellaire, Ohio at the convenience of the family.
Vigil services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
