MENGES, David E., 65, of Washington, WV, passed away September 12, 2012 at his home.
He was born December 12, 1946 at Sistersville, WV, a son of the late Emuel W. and Mary E. Wagner Menges.
David was a member of the Lauckport United Methodist Church and was retired from DuPont with 38 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the VietNam War, was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, a devoted family man and an avid equestrian.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hewitt Menges; and their son, Scott (Cindie) Menges of Washington, WV; one granddaughter, Abigail Menges; two brothers, Tom (Mary) Menges of Norwood, Ohio and Jim (Sandy) Menges of Friendly, WV; one sister, Kathy (Gene) Johnston of Fairview, WV and several nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by in-laws, Richard (Donna) Hewitt, Ron Hewitt, and Ina V. (Butch) Ellison all of Parkersburg, Jim Hewitt of Belpre, and Jenny (Bill) Lowers of Davisville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law that he loved as his own, Edna Hewitt.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lauckport United Methodist Church on Camden Avenue, Rev. Ken Nolan, Rev. Norman Butler and Evangelist Tom Menges will officiate.
Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with military rites provided by American Legion Post #15. Escort will be provided by The Patriot Guard Riders.
The visitation will be at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St. today (Friday) from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
The family would like to thank the 3rd floor North Nursing Staff at CCMC-St. Joseph’s Campus for the care given to David.
