James Dean

DEAN, James Henry, of Wheeling, WV died Saturday September 15, 2012.

Henry was born January 15, 1927, the son of the late Hazel Maloney and Albert F. Dean.

Surviving are his wife, whom he married November 27, 1947, Anna Kathryn Leasure; two daughters, Martha M. Drexel and her Husband Henry J. of McKinney, TX, and Ann Dean Miller of Troy, OH; two grandchildren, Brandt Dean Miller and his fiancee Natasha Seerat and Kathryn Marie “Katie” Miller, all of Troy, OH.

Henry graduated from Shadyside High School in 1944; West Liberty State College in 1950; West Virginia School of Banking, Jackson’s Mill, WV in 1958; and School for Bank Administration at University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin in 1969. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-46.

He was a member of the Shadyside Lodge F & AM; Christ United Methodist Church where he served as chairman of the board, financial secretary, and communion steward; served on the board of directors for Ohio Valley Industrial and Business Development Corporation; City of Wheeling Revolving Loan Committee; and Treasurer for Ohio County unit for the American Cancer Society.

He was employed at Sears from 1950-1953 in the plumbing and heating department and the credit office; Half Dollar Trust and Savings Bank as vice president and controller; and Security National Bank as executive vice president and secretary treasurer until retirement December 1, 1993. Henry also taught American Institute Banking at Wheeling Jesuit and W.V. Northern.

Friends will be received Monday, September 17, 2012 from 1-8 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 1232 National Road, Wheeling, WV, where services will be held Tuesday September 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Timothy Allen officiating. Interment in Holly Memorial Gardens.
