Karen Panas

PANAS, Karen of St. Clairsville, OH, was joined with God on Monday, September 3, 2012, at Wheeling Hospital surrounded by her adoring family.

She was born on March 18, 1952, in Wheeling, WV, of the late Mary and Francis Hackenberg of Warwood.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Michael D. Panas; a son Steven and his wife, April of St. Clairsville, a daughter, Stefanie and her husband, Philip Trouten Jr. and a granddaughter, Claire Elizabeth of Martins Ferry. One sister Cheryl and her husband, Chuck Dierkes of New Philadelphia, OH; many nieces and nephews.

Karen was a retired executive secretary from the President’s office at Wheeling Jesuit University.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Karen enjoyed traveling with her family, gardening, and cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. She will forever be remembered for her courageous spirit, her love of the Lord and her tremendous Thanksgiving feast.

Friends will be received Wednesday, September 5, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8:30 p.m. at the Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-277- 2722). Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Father James O’Brien and other priests from Wheeling Jesuit University as celebrants.

Vigil service will be held at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
