POLINSKY, Karen Ann, 73, of Bluefield, WV, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Born August 20, 1939 in Glen Dale, WV, she was a daughter of the late Vincent Patrick Fromhart and Mildred Kenger Fromhart. Mrs. Polinsky was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield. She was a graduate of Indiana University, majoring in Recreation and Virginia Commonwealth University where she obtained her Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice. She worked as an Assistant Warden at Bland County Correctional Facility and was Superintendent at the Tazewell Field Unit, Virginia Department of Corrections. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and going to the beach, but most important to her was spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Fromhart, of Las Vegas, NV.
Survivors include her husband, Robert C. Polinsky; two daughters, Felicia Lorick and husband, Rod, of West Columbia, SC and Ann-Marie Xanders of Tampa, FL; one son, Vincent C. Polinsky and wife, Suzette, of Fuquay-Varina, NC; one sister, Cathy Guadio and husband, Martin, of Follansbee, WV; six grandchildren, Logan and Savannah Lorick of West Columbia, Andrew Santilli and wife, Brittany, of Tampa, and Kaitlyn, Eric and Lillian Polinsky of Fuquay-Varina; and two great-granddaughters, Gabriella and Sophia Santilli.
The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Friday September 14, 2012 from 6- 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday September 15, 2012 at 2 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mr. Donald Hammond officiating.
