Marjorie Boyd

BOYD, Marjorie “Marge” Virginia Purvis, 79, of Wheeling passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Ohio Valley Medical Center.

She was born April 20, 1933, in Port Townsend, Washington, daughter of the late Harris Purvis and Marjorie Helpenstell Purvis Greene.

Mrs. Boyd was a clerk at Ohio Valley Medical Center, having retired in 1994. She was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, where she was also a member of the Altar Society.

“Marge” was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Women’s Club of Wheeling. She loved people and very much enjoyed bowling, traveling, books and the theater.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Purvis, and her stepfather, Joseph Greene.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 59 years, George William Boyd; four daughters, Patricia M. Boyd, Debra L. Chase, Linda L. Boyd and Carol A. Helfer, all of Wheeling; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter and her two grand-dogs, Boo and Scout.

Friends will be received from noon to 3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Kepner Funeral Home, (304-242-2311), 166 Kruger St., Elm Grove, Wheeling. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Chapel Hill Road, Triadelphia, with Father Edwin Keel as celebrant. Entombment in Park View Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Wheeling.
